With Open Access in mind: Academic publishing in the 21st century

This online workshop is part of the Becoming a Professional Researcher Themed Week

Session Description  

In this session we will look at the academic publishing lifecycle: from finding an appropriate journal to publish in, how different methods of peer review work, to ways to publicise and share research after the point of publication.

Taking a holistic approach we will consider the different factors which can determine where an author may wish to publish their work, and what potential pitfalls they may encounter along the way.

The session will focus in particular on how authors can legitimately provide free, public access to their research via different open access routes. In relation to this we will explore what the major drivers and developments in this area are, as well as the University and funder requirements which authors are expected to adhere to.

If you are interested in the contents of this session, you may be interested to know that Open Access week happens later in the year. To mark this occasion the Research & Scholarly Publications usually host a number of in-person and online events. Keep an eye out for these being advertised in the PGR Newsletter

How do I register?
