Research Methods Seminar: Grounded Theory

We are pleased to announce a webinar by Dr Alun DeWinter, Research Fellow, Centre for Global Learning.

Grounded Theory (GT) is an often misunderstood and frequently misused methodology. Sometimes criticised as being an ‘easy option’ or even as an ‘invalid methodology’, GT is a contested approach within academia.  However, when implemented carefully, the systematic and inductive nature of GT can offer a robust and valuable approach to your research.

This session serves as an introduction to Grounded Theory and is designed to help newer researchers who may be interested in this methodology an insight into its purpose and use in research.

The session will include an overview of GT, guidance on its implementation, insight into key authors and ‘top tips’ on what to look out for and what to avoid when using this methodological approach.

Research Methods seminars are aimed primarily at researchers at any career stage but we also welcome any CU members to join us.
