Description

Understanding the risks involved in fieldwork in high-risk travel and how these can be managed is an essential skill for any staff member or researcher carrying out moderate to high-risk travel as part of their work/research.

What are the benefits?

This interactive session gives an awareness of the potential issues which may be encountered and equips delegates with travel safety skills to manage these situations.

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding factors affecting higher risk travel
    • Accessing and interpreting sources of information on travel risk
    • Developing situational awareness skills to enhance their personal safety
    • Understanding the arrangements in place in the University to support travel safety and emergency support
    • Exploring threats which travellers could be exposed to as well as the proactive and reactive actions which can reduce these risks

Who should attend?

This one-day session is for anyone completing risk assessments for high-risk travel.

There is a separate workshop about travel risk assessment which compliments this workshop. It explores planning and travel risk assessment for higher risk travel, including University Group requirements and approval processes.
