Dr Who? Let’s talk about…Dealing with Disclosure

Monday 21 Nov 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

Session Description

Dr Who? discussion meetings offer you the opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation to help, support, understand and encourage each other.

Research is all about finding out new things and exploring the unknown, however, this can also mean that there are unexpected things that happen; one of these is the act of unexpected disclosures by participants. This session will explore how this happens, what to do about it and give you time to discuss different scenarios with others so that you can benefit from their experience.

We will be joined by some great experts from various disciplines who will be relaying their experience and offering some tips and advice:

  • Dr Rosa Cisneros from the Institute for Creative Cultures
  • Dr Ali Jones from the Institute for Peace & Security
  • Steph McCoy from the Health & Wellbeing team
  • Sophie Krumins from Research Ethics & Integrity

Doing a research degree is hard work. You need to stay motivated and are often working in isolation. We hope attending ‘Dr Who’ discussion meetings will help you to:

  • feel more confident and positive
  • keep a realistic perspective on your research degree
  • develop strategies to address any difficulties you are encountering
  • meet fellow postgraduate researchers who may continue to be sources of encouragement and support
