Outstanding Research Supervision Team Award – nomination process

Three parts are required for a complete nomination to be considered:

  1. PGRs to complete and submit the Outstanding Research Supervisory Team Award nomination by 23:59 on Friday 28 October 2022;
  2. All supervisory team members nominated to confirm their wish to proceed by Friday 11 November 2022;
  3. Research Centre Executive Director to complete and submit the supporting statement to: Katie.Choudhry@coventry.ac.uk;  with the subject line “Outstanding Research Supervisory Team Award supporting statement – (nominees name)” by Friday 2 December 2022.

Finalists will be notified on Wednesday 3 January 2023.

Incomplete and incorrectly completed nominations will not be sent to the panel for consideration.

All complete nominations will go through the same two-step process:

  • Nominations and supporting statements are considered by an internal independent panel to select the finalists;
  • Finalists will be considered by an independent panel, Chaired by the DVC-R.

Finalists and the winner will be selected against the following criteria:

  • The extent to which their nomination demonstrates “Outstanding” Supervisory Practice
  • The range and depth of examples given
  • The impact demonstrated by the nomination

One supervisor from each of the finalist teams will be required to make a short presentation to delegates as part of the judging process on the afternoon of Wednesday 1st February 2023 at the Research Hootenanny 30th January – 3rd February 2023. The presentation should address and consider their approach to research supervision and its impact. The independent panel will then consider presentations, nomination and supporting statements to select a winner against the criteria. The results and award will be presented during the conference. The winning supervisory team will receive £500 each towards a national or international conference of their choice to be used within 12 months of winning the award.
