International Women’s Day

IWD 2020 – 8th March, CU Celebrations Friday 6th March

At the Hootenanny event we had brilliant discussions and generated so many creative ideas for how to celebrate International Women’s Day 2020. The theme for this year is #EachforEqual and involves an international social media campaign where people are invited to show their support for an Equal World.

As the Women in Research Network we will be supporting the official International Women’s Day Campaign and showing our support for #EachforEqual but it was suggested that we have our own celebration of women in research using social media.

We will be encouraging women in research to share their own research journeys and experiences using #WomeninResearch #thisiswhataresearcherlookslike on Friday 6th March ahead of the official International Women’s Day on the 8th March. We want to breakdown gender stereotyping of ‘researchers’, ‘academics’, ‘scientists’ and share the wonderful research and various roles our members do. This is also a great opportunity to spread the word about the Women in Research Network and encourage other members of staff and research students to get involved.
